Hot, wet, big, sexy.
These are just a few of the words that come to mind when I think about HRD. This SoMa standout is a playboy on the restaurant scene, with hundreds fighting for a piece of the action during lunch hour. However, when night falls this casanova packs all the same foodgasmicness and you can slide in without any competition.
HRD Coffee Shop is not really a coffee shop. In fact, you can’t even get coffee there. What you do get is Korean, Japanese, Southern, Indian and a host of other exotic flavors coming together to fulfill you wildest fantasies.
With everything from burritos smothered in glistening brown, subtly spicy curry, to monster Po’boys stuffed full of crispy goodness, all the menu options are utterly sinful, yet oh so right. Size is no issue here. Plates are piled high with so much food, you’ll wonder how you could wrap your mouth around it.
Imagine a long, thick roll, dripping wet. Stuffed with tender meat, spicy kimchee and soaked to perfection. Every bite is more exciting than the next, leaving your tongue rolling around and around trying to comprehend what it’s taking in.
The weekly specials are always wildly imaginative, continuing the fusion magic with the likes Korean enchilada’s and poutine fries covered in spicy pork, kimchee and stringy melted mozzarella. As if it were wanting, this voluptuous pyramid of salty, spicy food is finished with more HRD gravy.
Make it a night, open up wide and when you wipe your lips clean at the end of the meal, take a moment to appreciate the foodgasm.
